Instructions
for use
Sleep
is the time when we rest our body, relax our mind
and repair our systems.
To achieve these goals we need to breathe correctly
whilst sleeping. Oxygenation of the blood is paramount
to good and healthy cell maintenance.
You
have been fitted with an oral appliance. This appliance
is designed to move your lower jaw away from the velum
and pharynx to enable optimisation of the airway.
Here
are some tips to help in achieving this goal;
-
Make sure that you nasal passages are clear before
you go to bed, hay-fever or dust allergies can hinder
your ability to use your nose properly, and you
need to address this issue if you can.
-
When in bed, sleep in the recovery position, this
is the position where you sleep on your side. Sleeping
on your side allows the change in the position of
your lower jaw to be possible with the appliance,
by restricting the effects of gravity (if you were
on your back) or pressure from your pillow on your
face(if you are on your tummy)
-
Try both sides for a while to find out which is
more comfortable for you.
-
Your dentist will tell you to use the elastics to
hold the splint in the closed position there is
a need to have a more rigid holding position.
